  1. Compost Your Leftovers -

We’ve been composting now for three years (but are new to Generous). It’s fantastic. There is one tip though especially during the autumn / winter.

Compost heaps are lovely and warm and make an ideal place for hedgehogs to hibernate. Please be careful with your turning until the spring.

  2. Recycle Your Inkjet Cartridges -

Definitely something that’s easier to do in bigger groups. I think I might even start to collect the cartridges in our Watling Valley churches and then send them off in bulk.

  3. Consider those lonely at Christmas -

Due to a knee injury I’ve been a bit out of the loop on updating, but did this at Christmas. I have been working with a young lady (now turned 18) who came to the UK as an unaccompanied minor. As she was being looked after by the local authority she was entitled to an “independent visitor” – basically someone to take her out, a sounding board, beyond the social care framework. This was her first Christmas out of foster care, and she joined us – a great time had by all, and a viery different experience for my parents! If you’re interested in working with young people in LA care, then contact your local council and ask about becoming an Independent Visitor. Very worthwhile, and I believe very much in the spirit of Generous.

  4. Recycle Your Old Mobile -

Or, if you’ve gone for an upgrade, even though your last phone was still functioning, give it away to a student or someone whose phone has gone phut: re-use before re-cyling
