  1. Switch To Good (Green Or Socially Resonsible) Energy -

I’ve just joined the Generous community and am really grateful for all the info about green/ethical energy suppliers. I’ve been looking around for a couple of months and all this info is excellent. Will be switching very soon!

  2. Buy Presents That Make A Difference -

When I asked my eldest daughter (aged 14) what she wanted for Christmas, she said she wanted to go the the Wynet worship workshop and passion weekend over New Year. (This is the youth wing of Wycliffe Bible Translators). She’s been on a couple of their weekends/camps and has come back a changed person. So, this present will definitely make a difference to her, and hopefully to our church as well as she and her friend will feed back to the church what they have learned. Sometimes children really surprise you, don’t they?

  3. Get someone to join the Generous Community -

Well, I’ve got my husband to join now, and I’m telling lots of people about it, so hopefully a few more will join in.

  4. Switch To Good (Green Or Socially Resonsible) Energy -

Had a phone call from Ebico today to say that we are scheduled for gas switch over on 20th December. I’ve gone for Good Energy for electricity and this is in the process of being switched over as well. I’ll soon be able to tick this one off my list. Hooray!

  5. Switch To Energy Saving Lightbulbs -

We’ve put in about as many low energy bulbs as we can now. They have certainly improved since we first started using them – they used to be very slow to warm up. Thanks for the incentive to start using them more.

  6. Switch To Good (Green Or Socially Resonsible) Energy -

Switchover has finally taken place, so I can officially tick this one off the list.

  7. Switch to Green Household Cleaners -

I’ve been using white vinegar & bicarb for a while, and also use Ecover products. I buy in bulk now from the internet as I find I can get a much wider range than in the supermarket, and the price is a bit cheaper when you buy the huge size containers. Storage is interesting, though! I also use microfibre cloths as these help to cut down on the amount of product you need to use.

  8. Get Government and Big Business to come clean on CO2 -

I’ve sent an e-mail to Morrisons as I shop there regularly. Thanks for making this a simple way of registering my concern that this company is obviously not taking CO2 emissions seriously.

  9. Get Government and Big Business to come clean on CO2 -

I’ve just sent another one to Gordon Brown.

  10. Choose to have one meat-free day a week in your home -

I’ve been trying to include a vegetarian meal once a week for a while but will now make much more of an effort. I’m currently working on two days a week. I used to be vegetarian a long time ago, but I never quite got the balance right and eventually felt my body needed some meat. I still can’t eat steak, though – I find it much too heavy on the stomach! I must start looking for some new veggie recipes…

  11. Sign the Flight Pledge -

I’ve just signed the gold pledge. I decided a while ago that I didn’t need to go on holiday abroad and neither myself or my husband need to travel for work. In fact, we’ve decided that we love to holiday in West Wales so much that we’ve bought a static caravan there. We never thought we’d do anything like that, but God kind of decided it for us. We now have a place where people in our church can go who can’t usually afford a holiday, and they don’t have to feel guilty because there is no flying involved! I wouldn’t be bothered if I never flew again.

  12. Switch to Green Household Cleaners -

Another place for buying in bulk on the internet is Ecotopia.co.uk. They do quite a lot of liquid cleaners in 25 litre containers. My poor delivery man dreads coming to my house now!

I’m working as a teaching assistant in a local secondary school.I’m married and have two children (girls, who are now aged 16 and 14). I haven’t done a great deal with Generous for the past year – must get back into it. My husband is a Generous member as well, so we have a household page – Kings Palace.
