  1. Ladies: Consider a mooncup! -

This was my new years resolution! and so far its going well and the tampon mountain is reducing…..

  2. Use 'real' nappies -

We have used cloth for both of our kiddies and would not consider using dispos (except on holiday I must admit- if we are self catering I use my nappies but in the caravan we use dispos- blush…. I did try honestly). Use a mixture- started with Cotton Bottom prefolds but have recently discovered shaped nappies- cost more but less folding. Could’t even begin to put those huge packets of nappies in my shopping trolley

  3. Dry clothes outdoors. -

Do have a washer/dryer but hardly ever use it- only in an emergency nappy situation!!! I actually enjoy hanging the washing out- gives me a quiet 10 mins outside away from the kids. My six month old loves to sit by the window watching the washing and my two year old has christened the washing to be the ‘flap flaps’.

  4. Put Your Money Where Your Heart is (Bank Ethically) -

We switched to smile over six months ago- couple of small blips in changing but keeping a watchful eye on the DDs meant this didn’t cause any real problem. Had been increasingly disatisfied with HSBC anyway. The interest rate was a big incentive too. OH in process of changing his investments to smile too. We also use the local PO to pay in cheques etc- very important as it is a rural PO and we want to support it.

  5. Switch to Green Household Cleaners -

Have been using Ecover for a while and also buy in bulk either from internet (goodness direct do bulk packets- ie 10 KGs washing powder/ 5L washing up liquid) or from the wholesalers. Have been exploring white vinegar and bicarb recently. Does anyone know any internet based people that do decent sized bottles of white vinegar WITHOUT the spray nozzle everytime( what a waste)- also looking for supplier of borax??
