  1. Compost Your Leftovers -

Rotting problems? Why not come to the Composting Clinic at Greenbelt this year? Find us in the Generous Space next to Pru’s Cafe.

  2. Switch To Energy Saving Lightbulbs -

Buy them at IKEA. Every time I visit I try to buy one more than last time and then fit it when I get home.

  3. Choose to have one meat-free day a week in your home -

Have been a vegetarian for over twenty five years. Does this count?

  4. Switch off and unplug appliances and chargers -

I hadn’t realised this. So that’s why the laptop charger always got so hot! I am now making a real effort to switch it off when laptop is 100% charged. Think of the money I’m saving. And the emissions I’m not emitting. (No personal comments thank you …)

  5. Stop Taking Plastic Bags From Shops -

“Try to remember to take old carriers with you when you shop …” Recycled loads at Tescos last night as I went in (felt virtuous) Then didn’t have enough to put my shopping in when I’d shopped (felt foolish) So after paying I had to put stuff in my trolley and get carriers back out of recycling when outside the shop (felt deviant) I’ll keep trying.

  6. Get Rid Of Some Of Your Books -

Recycle some of your books at Greenbelt 05 at BookAid on Friday evening and Saturday morning

  7. Put A Save-A-Flush Device In Your Cistern -

Brought a load of “hogs” back from Greenbelt (thank you whoever lugged them there!)and then took most to school and they are now fitted to all the loos there.

  8. Get Rid Of Some Of Your Books -

Obliged to have a serious look at the book situation after a mouse and a leaky pipe (they are related) forced me to empty the bookcase. Is my nearly-complete series of hardback Famous Five of any use to anyone? Back copies of Garden Illustrated? The mouse won’t be reading them … All remaining books actually fit on the shelves now and will try GreenMetropolis.com with the remaining boxes full. Or even the local second hand bookshop.

  9. Recycle Your Stuff -

    Compost it!

  10. Send a Child a Christmas Box -

Our school shoe boxes go to Smile International working in Eastern Europe www.smileinternational.org

  11. Shop Small (Buy local, Switch from the Supermarket) -

Hooray! A local group have just started distributing vegetables grown locally so now I can get seasonal produce from the nearby farms instead of from Riverford Organics – I loved their fab fresh veg but it is grown in Devon and transported all this way!

  12. Wear Your 'Make Poverty History' Band -

Are they making a 2006 MPH wristband? Do we need to buy new ones?
