  1. Recycle Your Inkjet Cartridges -

I got a (biodegradable) freepost envelope from Ink Xpress as an insert with something in the post. Easy to send off old cartridge to be reused and get replacement in the post. Cost £14.99 for a colour HP one (less for others, cheapest 4.99) plus 1.50 p&p. Have no idea how this price compares with othe refilling places. Also haven’t actually used the recycled cartridge yet so can’t guarantee it works.

  2. Shop locally -

I’m another recent sign-up to abel and cole and a fan so far. Tastes better and saves money as it means I need to go to the supermarket less often. It is good for getting children to try new things they sometimes find they love. But if they don’t you can exclude them from future boxes.

  3. Switch To Energy Saving Lightbulbs -

I have just been to the website mentioned above and ordered 8 low-energy candle bulbs. Didn’t know you could get them until this evening, so thanks for that. The site has loads of different kinds of bulbs.

  4. Make Your Own Greetings Cards -

Have just made mine so feeling slightly smug. Am usually up late on the day before last post for overseas trying to finish… I used to make lovely, complicated cards but since having children (and more people to send them to) the designs have got much simpler so they can be mass produced by hand! At least it means I do something creative once a year. The design has to be something to do with real Christmas too, ie no santa. Ikea has been good for textured recycled card blanks that are so nice they need little adornment. Also, of course, endless tea lights, white crockery, plain frames etc to decorate for your home-made gifts (or your children’s)... but that would be another action!

  5. Stop Taking Plastic Bags From Shops -

Has anyone said what an incentive it was to do this when Sainsbury’s made such fab designs for their bags for life? Or is it just me that’s so shallow….. ? Well I am converted to them for supermarket shopping so that’s a start.
