  1. Go Ethical With Some of your Savings -

I’ve moved my ISA and another savings account to the Co-op. Working on current account – the complications of moving have put me off so far. I’ve been meaning to do this for years – thanks to Generous for giving me the push I needed.

  2. Take A Mug To Work - don't use plastic -

We’ve always done this – not difficult for me, we’re a small business with a kettle.

  3. Improve your home's energy efficiency -

We’ve just blocked up a chimney (previously open to the sky, the rain came in) and blocked up the draught that came under the cellar door. Working on getting mastic put round two recently installed, and unfinished, windows. We’re into draught-proofing basics here, not finesse!! Want to explore using sheepswool insulation under the living room floor – major draught round ankles from stripped wooden floor. Having trouble with the cat-flap, it sticks open after she has come in. Oh, and I’ve just shortened the curtains in the living room so they don’t hang over the radiator. Nothing left on standby any more. Lightbulbs gradually being replaced with energy efficient ones.

  4. Send Some Cards, Through The Bars. -

i’v never done anything like this, with my name on it, either. It feel really strange/humbling connecting trying to connect with someone in real difficulty who I do not know. Almost frightening – how cowardly is that!

  5. Switch To Energy Saving Lightbulbs -

I’ve just put 3 more light bulbs in which was surprisingly difficult as it required a ladder (high Victorian ceilings !). However, I was REALLY surprised when one of them “popped” the next day and blew the lighting circuit. Has anyone else had any problems with them, or is this just a one-off. I’ve never had any problems before.

  6. Will the last one to leave please turn off the lights... -

Did this at 12.30 on 22nd Dec, and was pleasantly surprised by the positive reactions of other staff.

  7. Recycle Your Inkjet Cartridges -

Does anyone know where to recycle photocopier toner cartridges?

  8. Put Your Money Where Your Heart is (Bank Ethically) -

I’ve finally done it. It’s taken a year or so, on and off. Moved both personal, current and savings, and work (our own business) accounts to the Co-op. So far so good. I like the fact that you can usually speak to a real person when you need to. Local branch staff are really friendly.

50 something, married, 3 grown-up kids and four lovely grandchildren. I’ve been into green issues for ages, hate shopping and now have a reason not to do it!! I want to leave a lighter footprint. Unable to change the world on my own, so I love the “generous” idea.
