  1. Recycle your old bras -

If only I’d seen this earlier. I finally convinced my girlfriend to clear out her drawers and cupboards, and boxes and bags of clothes and stuff a few weeks ago. Most we recycled at oxfam, but we didn’t think the bras would be accepted. I will pass this around my network now I know.

  2. Switch to Green Household Cleaners -

I recommend the e-cloth. It may be difficult to get your head around, but it does work. I recommend using it with a water spray.

  3. Give Something Away - and declutter your life -

I have been working on my girlfriend’s hoarding for some time. Have probably filled half an Oxfam show so far! Amazingly there is still more!

  4. Save Paper and Packaging: Dump Your Junk Mail -

I’ve just registered my home and work addresses on the Mail Preference Service, which was really easy as pie. What’s useful is you can register previous tenants at addresses, so you can stop receiving their junkmail too! I’d definately recommend everyone do this.

Royal Mail opt out is more tricky in shared buildings, but this may be an opportunity for those that live in shared blocks to get together and make some kind of group effort, even if it just stops at junk mail. Maybe this should be a suggestion Action.

  5. Will the last one to leave please turn off the lights... -

Having spent some time in a computer software office I know the extend of the problem. My comments fell on deaf ears then, but its now more important than ever that this type of waste is tackled and its needs employees with such concerns to be proactive in the office to bring about change. My days in offices are lone gone, but Good Luck!

  6. Stop Taking Plastic Bags From Shops -

Personally, I’m in favour of a plastic bag ban or a tax at least to go into tackling projects that offset their damage.

However, in the meantime I suggest people carry around just one small bag for emergency purchases, a string bag takes up very little space, and a large canvas bag with smaller bags inside ready by the door for shopping expeditions.

When one is in a flustered or in a rush its so easy to forget, so what about a little reminder on the front door saying ’Don’t forget your shoppin bag!’. Better still hang a bag there.

  7. Think before you buy -

If I could get the girlfriend to do this it would be a major achievement!

  8. Choose to have one meat-free day a week in your home -

I have to say I rarely think of eating meat now. I have had it occassionally since committing to this action, but find I could have easily fine without it. I have fish more, but will be looking to become more creative in the veg dept and will check out some of the recipe books. I feel a lot better not eating meat.

  9. Ladies: Consider a mooncup! -

I’ll tell my partner. She will probably wince, but no harm in trying.

  10. Ditch The Disposable Items -

Yes, Clingfilm is the work of the Devil. There’s so many more options than resorting to the stuff. With regard batteries, I have seen rechargers that also recharge normal batteries. However, if you wish to recycle th I also noted that a Ryness store in London takes old batteries and lightbulbs for recycling, so if there’s one near you, ask them. One final thing, I keep hearing about this mooncup, maybe us guys should be recommending to our other halves.
