  1. Send a Child a Christmas Box -

We had a lovely open afternoon at our house and invitied friends & relatives to come along with a shoe box.We collected 30 boxes. A friend and I knitted hats & mittens for them all.

  2. Get Rid Of Some Of Your Books -

I love bookcrossing and share my books out around the World, its so wonderful to see where they end up and the fantastic journals they have.

Its a great way to read the books you want to and then send or pass them on to the next person on the list who wants to read it.

  3. Buy Presents That Make A Difference -

We visited Lincoln’s alternative Christmas market at the beginning of December and bought some lovely gifts from Amensity, Friends of the Earth etc.

We have just been to the Oxfam unwrapped website and instead of sending Christmas cards this year and in memory of our daughter Emma … we have given a goat and 200 meals for school children. The 200 meals cost just £12 .. which completly blows my mind .. just £12 .. my goodness, how much does the average family spend on food over Christmas, on drink, on tins of chocolates .. really makes me think.

  4. Use your LOAF at the shops (Local, Organic, Animal-Friendly and Fair Trade) -

We use a local organic fruit and veg scheme from Woodlands Farm .. we made a commitment 4 years ago now that we would only buy fairtrade tea & coffee, which is how it all started for us really, from there we began to question more and more of the contents of our shopping trolley .. and we keep questioning and trying to make sure we use as much fairtrade products as possible including clothing and that we continue to talk to our children about these issues and encourage them from an early age.

  5. Give Your Unwanted / Unworn Clothes To Charity -

We pass all our out-grown children’s clothes on to friends, charity shop our clothes.

Such a wonderful thing to do .. we need so little of what we already have.

  6. Recycle Your Inkjet Cartridges -

We picked up some envelopes at Age Concern to send them back in, they are working with Tesco and you can opt to donate £1 for every cartridge you send to Age Concern or to give them 50p and 50p goes on your clubcard. I thought this was a great way to encourage people to recycle and hopeful to chose to donate to charity … winners alround.
