  1. DIY vegetables! -

I took on an allotment at the end of 2005. It needs a fair bit of digging. I started to dig and after an hour or so realised I had barely got anywhere! I am thinking about hiring a rotivator from the allotment association in the next month or so to get things started. I want to get planting in the spring!

  2. Compost Your Leftovers -

Started composting, then gave up briefly, then ended up with a bee’s nest in their this summer. This suggested that I hadn’t done the composting correctly (it’s a plastic one) but didn’t want to upset the bees. I am now trying again. Will also build one at the allotment.

  3. DIY vegetables! -

Have been lent a copy of Kitchen Garden magazine which is full of interesting bits on growing your own fruit and veg. March is the month to start planting once the soil has warmed up. Not long now!

  4. Compost Your Leftovers -

The composting is going well. I’m keeping all the veggie peelings and my endless supply of used teabags. I think I need to start adding some shredded paper.

  5. Turn Off The Tap When Brushing Your Teeth -

I have been trying this although my automatic reaction is to leave the tap running. Giving it a go though.

  6. Encourage Others To Go Generous -

Have just emailed various people to let them know about the site.

  7. Stop Taking Plastic Bags From Shops -

I try hard to remember this but it hasn’t become a habit yet. I keep remembering as a child shopping with my parents once a week and using string bags-does anyone remember those? The tins would stick through the holes and scratch your legs! Perhaps that will help to remind me to take the bags…

  8. Give Your Unwanted / Unworn Clothes To Charity -

Three bags of clothes to Help the Aged this week.

  9. Switch To Energy Saving Lightbulbs -

Have managed two so far-mind you they take a while to warm up!

  10. Switch off and unplug appliances and chargers -

I always turn it off when it’s done! At last something I’ve already and always done! Yippee!

  11. Shower More, Bath Less -

I shower everyday and although I promise myself a bath now and then it very rarely happens. I think Mr. Moosegirl has a bath once in a blue moon. But Baby Moosegirl doesn’t shower yet at all as she is too young. I will reduce her water allowance for the moment!

  12. Choose to have one meat-free day a week in your home -

We normally manage once a week. Last night we had tuna pasta-can I count this? Otherwise I shall be trying a couple of veggie dishes a week. It shouldn’t be too bad as we used to be veggies.
