  1. Get someone to join the Generous Community -

lizchrisdavies I have just joined & hope to encourage others to join

  2. Energy Efficient Cooking -

I cooked a pasta meal for 22 young people from Georgia U.S.A. who are over here in Wales for 1 week doing church & community work. I used this new system of cooking the pasta. It was perfect & resulted in 22 clean plates!

  3. Encourage Others To Go Generous -

My teenage son has now joined . GREAT!

  4. Shower More, Bath Less -

Sorry’ I enjoy my baths too much’ & we do save energy by not heating the bathroom. We also share the water! . Does this count?

  5. Use your LOAF at the shops (Local, Organic, Animal-Friendly and Fair Trade) -

I sell fair trade goods,& will try to buy more organic food .I plan to go to a local farm to buy potatoes & carrots. Actually, organic produce tastes so much better but doesn’t keep as long. My husband says if veg still have wild-life on them when you come to prepare them for cooking its a good sign as they have obviously not been sprayed with lots of nasty chemicals.

  6. Give Thanks Before A Meal -

Have always done this. Its a great way of encouraging children to pray out loud, especially when they’re teenagers & don’t really do uncool things like that. It also causes great hilarity when adult children come home & Dad prays the grace he always prays. A lot of gentle ribbing takes place.

  7. Become a Fair Trader - in your community or workplace -

I am a fair trader, selling Traidcraft goods. I also aim to buy at least one fairly traded product each time I shop in the supermarket,& have recently registered to become a Traidcraft speaker.

  8. Go Ethical With Some of your Savings -

We have banked with the Co-op bank for years, mostly telephone banking. They are very efficient & ethical

  9. Buy An Ethical T-Shirt (Support Someone In A Developing Country) -

I have been asked by the local Fair Trade Federation (of which I am a member) to pass on any ethical &/orFair trade providers names as we are hoping to run a fashion show later in the year. Will pass on your contact details

  10. Recycle Your Stuff -

If the council won’t take your cardboard add it to your compost heap! Compost heaps like humans need lots of roughage like newspaper & cardboard.

  11. Ditch The Disposable Items -

Ladies—Please what is a mooncup? Please enlighten me. The comments I,ve read above are causing my mind to boggle!! On the actions side, I wash & re-use freezer bags many times, their last job being sandwich bags when they are no longer seal-proof.I also use breadbags to store food in the fridge thus never buy clingfilm. I reuse carrier bags several times until they end up as my kitchen bin.Old clothes are used as dusters, window cleaners etc.& end up as floor clothes.—Just make sure your husband doesn’t put one in his pocket while cleaning windows & forget its there & pull it out to catch a sneeze in company.Embarrasing? or a conversation starter about recycling?

  12. DIY vegetables! -

I grow more attention seeking plants such as tomatoes, carrots, courgettes, lettuce & radish at home in either our small garden or in containers & my husband grows most of our annual supply of fruit & veg in the allotment.Saves a fortune on gym fees as we get loads of exercise as well as fresh air.(Not to mention many soakings this year).Plus all the produce is organic & friends love us when we are trying to find homes for any surplas. Its hard work, time consuming, great fun, very satisfying,& I reccomend it to anyone.

  13. DIY vegetables! -

To rachelandrew.I have never known birds to eat tomatoes. What sort of birds live in Maidenhead? I usually put my toms out the end of May in growbags or my own comost in containers & start feeding with tom feed when the 1st flowers set & you can see mini toms behind where the flower was.

  14. Put Your Money Where Your Heart is (Bank Ethically) -

Have telephone banked with the Co-op for years & find them very efficient & helpful.

  15. Make Your Own Greetings Cards -

Just started making my own cards. My father was so touched with his personalised Fathers Day card. I have such fun & such a sense of satisfaction making them & friends are so touched to receive them. So all are blessed.

  16. Use your computer to solve global problems -

sounds like a good idea. Will start today
