  1. Give Thanks Before A Meal -

Not being the remotest bit religious, I would find it hypocritical to say grace but I think a moment of silence and an appreciative look at my family might do the trick.

  2. DIY vegetables! -

Been growing vegetables for 3 years now. It’s an ongoing thing. The best and easiest are garlic, tomatoes and potatoes. I have 6 1m x 2m beds. I should do more but it’s the weeds I tells ya! I’ve also grown corn, onions, peas, courgettes, pumpkin, herbs, radishes.

  3. Take A Mug To Work - don't use plastic -

Tea tastes so much better in a china cup

  4. Shop Small (Buy local, Switch from the Supermarket) -

Always looking to see what I can do for my local community. Currently I buy my petrol at the local garage and get my car serviced there.

  5. Shower More, Bath Less -

Bath maybe once a month. Just to be able to relax and have time out is good for the soul. Other than that I shower

  6. Switch off and unplug appliances and chargers -

I’m going to give this a go. I’ll be checking out my power box (where the main switches are) and finding out what controls what, then using those to turn off the mains power at night. As for charging, I’ll have to move my charger from by my PC to somewhere else to be able to turn it off when charged. It’s all a mess of wires under the computer :-)

  7. Turn Off The Tap When Brushing Your Teeth -

Something I do. Cool. I guess it was UK water ban upbringing that made me do it. Honest Guv’. I even turn the tap on at the sink whilst shaving and when hot turn it off, ready for my shower

  8. Compost Your Leftovers -

    My composting tip

If you don’t care about your compost being marvelous and working for you, don’t bother with all the forking to airate it, or the covering with black liner to heat it up. What I do is leave it in a pile to break down. I have about 3 compost heaps which I pile all my compostable items from food, garden..etc and then every so often, if the underneath looks reasonably OK, I use that straight on the garden. Sure, you get weeds but you get them anyway. It saves effort. It just takes longer so you have bigger piles of compost.

  9. Plant A Tree -

I have about 20 trees I need to plant this winter. I’ve put it off for a year now. They really need to go in. I SHALL DO THIS

  10. Plant A Tree -

    11 trees planted, 8 camelias and 100 + bulbs :-)

  11. Compost Your Leftovers -

Composting bins do work better than just a pile.

If you want you can try covering your pile (grass clippings and all) with a black sheet (use a bin liner) This will heat up the compost from the sun and and hopefully as it breaks down it kills the weeds and weed seeds.

  12. DIY vegetables! -

If you have a pile of small pebbles/stones

Try growing potatoes in it. I did accidentally once and the potatoes came out beautifully formed and even better, clean. Very simple to find and remove too.

  13. Use 'real' nappies -

Yes. We used to use “real” nappies but went to Disposable just for ease, longevity and hassle free. We’re looking to potty train so maybe cloth will make a come back.
