  1. DIY vegetables! -

Grow courgettes, they take very little effort and you get loads, then use them fried with pasta, raw in salads, grated in sandwiches, in courgette cake or let them grow and make marrow soup.

  2. Slow Down, Calm Down (Stick to the speed limit) -

Thought I’d better commit to an action that would involve a challenge otherwise I’m not really making any changes. This will be tough but I’ll give it my best shot.

  3. Love books? Join the library -

I recommend using the internet library service, it’s so easy to request and renew books. I’ve always liked having books on the shelves but realistically how many times do you read most books? Like everything else think very carefully before buying and if a book is so good that you really want to buy it, share it with your friends so they can enjoy it too.

  4. Become A Blood Donor -

I used to give blood at work but they stopped doing it and so did I. Thanks for reminding me that it’s my own laziness that stopped me. I’ve booked myself in for a local session and will aim to get back on track with regular donations.

  5. Become A Blood Donor -

I went to a session last night and gave for the first time in nearly two and a half years. I have to admit that I wasn’t very well prepared and afterwards I felt a bit sick/faint. They looked after me very well though. Definitely make sure you eat well on the day you donate and drink plenty of water. Hoepfully despite the queasiness I’m now back on track to give regularly.

  6. Slow Down, Calm Down (Stick to the speed limit) -

This is tough but it’s going okay. When you slow down, actively let people in to queueing traffic and generally take the competitiveness and hurry out of driving it’s a much more pleasurable experience.

  7. Give Thanks Before A Meal -

I recently bought a grace dice on a youth weekend I was part of andthis has been a great way to introduce thanksgiving at meal times with my kids. To be honest it has been good for me too and pausing to give thanks makes you appreciate what you have so much more.

  8. Use your LOAF at the shops (Local, Organic, Animal-Friendly and Fair Trade) -

I see Tesco’s made £1bn in the last six months. Time to sort out my shopping once and for all. Several goals on this one: - Shop less and more thoughtfully so every purchase is considered. - Shop locally rather than at the supermarket and make it a family thing to go down to the local shops together. - Shop fairly using Traidcraft and so on, which I do already but need to expandthe range.

  9. Become A Blood Donor -

It was all going so well but suddenly I’ve started keeling over after giving blood. As my blood is seemingly in greatd emand I’m just going to have to take a little longer on the recovery time!
