  1. Switch off and unplug appliances and chargers -

For me, this seems like an easy action. I’ve only got the one phone charger. It sits by the extension cord by my bed. When my phone needs charging I plug it in. When it’s finished charging, I unplug it! Oh, and I switch off my phone sometimes too (like when I go to sleep, when I’m driving)... that would mean I charge my phone less often wouldn’t it?

  2. Put Your Money Where Your Heart is (Bank Ethically) -

I switched to Co-op from NatWest last December. Co-op themselves have not given me any problems, their call centre is very good, you never have to wait long to speak to someone, and the operators are very friendly and polite. There is a branch in Coventry where I live, but I find I only go there to pay money in. The one problem I had was with switching. Co-op did an amazing job with switching over all my direct debits and writing to my employer to get them to pay the money into the new account. However, BT and Coventry City Council didn’t change my dd details over, which gave me a few problems. So if you do switch, keep an eye on your bills to see if they have changed your details over.

  3. Plant A Tree -

I planted a number of acorns and some Norway spruce (i.e. Christmas tree) seeds in a pot over the winter. Nothing yet now it’s March, but I did dig around in the pot and discover that at least one of the acorns has roots growing out of the bottom of it. There looks like there might be the beginnings of a Norway spruce just starting to show.

Note: The book “Change the World for a Fiver” provides a packet of five Norway Spruce seeds, which are the ones that I planted!
