  1. Recycle Your Old Mobile -

I have actually sent 3 of my old mobile phones off to MoPay (http://www.mopay.co.uk) who not only recycle the phones but also donate an extra 10% to Childline and give you cash for the phone.

So far I have located and submitted

    1 x Nokia 6210 @ £9.08 1 x Sony Erricson T610 @ £15.00 1 x Nokia 6230 @ £28.00

This makes £52.08 cash to me and £5.20 to Childline. All I need to do now is decide which worthy cause to donate the £52.08 (+ gift aid) too.

I figure that is better than just sending it off to a place as I decide which charity gets the money.

  2. Take A Mug To Work - don't use plastic -

Our company has just started charging us for coffee in plastic cups out of the machines, because of this a load of us are now bringing in flasks of hot water and we take it in turns to buy our own coffee/milk etc works out at some 10p cheaper than the company ones per cup and we get a reasonable tasting cup as well.

Naturally I am doing my best to ensure my coffee is Fair Trade.

  3. Recycle Your Inkjet Cartridges -

Cooh.. have been doing this one for a while and raising money for the Brass Band I am in. I use Box-shift (http://www.box-shift.co.uk/cgi-bin/empties.asp) to return a fair few cartidges now and all the money I earn off that goes to providing resources for our Training and Youth bands.

  4. Don't just recycle, Freecycle -

Whilst I haven’t actually used the service yet I am a fully signed up memeber to 3 circuits of FreeCycle now and am gradually getting ready to have a major spring/summer clean in the house so plenty will be going up!

It’s amazing how everything from used Christmas Cards to Cars get a new home on their!
